Sydney Shackelford
FileMaker Developer
Sydney has vast experience as a Claris FileMaker developer and consultant for both small businesses and workgroups, as well as larger organizations. Her philosophy is that she is not just writing software, she is creating custom solutions to streamline processes and solve complex business problems.
Sydney has built her career being both a consultant and in-house developer in different parts of the US, while based in New Jersey and East Tennessee. She’s applied her ever-expanding knowledge and experience with EDI, API integrations, and Client expectations in the logistics, supply chain and e-commerce worlds. She often sets up IT environments for businesses centered around FileMaker Server on various platforms, including virtualization.
Sydney's love of computers started with the Apple ][e and TRS-80 computers. Later, while pursuing a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, she discovered FileMaker on a Mac SE and fell in love with what it could do. This was a key factor in her decision to change her major and pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She followed the path of opportunity to Northern New Jersey where she could apply computer skills to real world solutions in the logistics industry. She built solutions in a range of languages including PHP, Perl, Javascript, and eventually… FileMaker.
Outside of work, Sydney has performed “off-off” Broadway in NYC in several plays, served on advisory panels advocating healthcare for minority groups such as the LGBT community, and helped to build community support for disenfranchised people. She is a Doctor Who fan who enjoys cooking, quality time with her wife, and spending time with family and friends.
