Web and FileMaker Integration
We began as a FileMaker shop, and as the web grew, so did we. Our global customers have always been a driving force: in such a competitive arena, no one can thrive on a single platform. Modern, native web technologies deliver at a global scale.
Upgrading To Latest Version of FileMaker
You know it's time to move forward to the current version of FileMaker, but aren't sure of all the steps to do this safely and efficiently. We'll look for the gotchas, using our team's knowledge across FileMaker versions, as well as tools like InspectorPro to identify compatibility issues.
Meanwhile, many new features are only potential -- until you implement them. And, of course, we can help with that, too.
FileMaker License Fullfillment
Making the most of our strong twenty-year working relationship with FilleMaker Inc., we can process orders of FileMaker products for you.
Web Store Integration
Turn your online supporters into repeat customers. Beezwax will connect a robust e-commerce site to your existing website or database. We work with a variety of e-commerce platforms to deliver high quality user experiences at reasonable prices. And as your scale grows, we’ll grow your site.
The measure, reporting and improvement of performance related to your software, systems, and infrastructure.
FileMaker WebDirect Development
With FileMaker WebDirect, we can tailor a FileMaker custom app to manage and share business information directly through a secure web browser. WebDirect is your FileMaker database delivered directly to a web browser.
Ruby on Rails Development
In 2007 we chose Rails as one of our core development platforms and have been happy with the choice. We have been very proud to be part of the maturation of Rails and supportive technologies.
Cloud and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) can simplify deployment, and reduce costs and overhead for organizations that rely on custom software apps.
User Experience Design
UX Design is a broad discipline that includes system analysis, prototyping, user studies, planning, UI development, creating personas and more. When you interact with a system, how do you feel? How effective are you? Good UX maximizes the satisfaction and effectiveness of the user.
Web App Usability Analysis
Our Usability Analysis investigates this question: Are your users getting the value they need from your web application?
We will focus on key areas of functionality for a primary user group or role. This includes a technical survey of front-end and back end architecture, and an interview with a point person who can represent the needs of primary users and stakeholders.
We provide 10 suggestions in the format: If X is changed to Y, we expect user group A will benefit in B ways. And we provide a mock-up to illustrate at least one of our suggestions.
The deliverable for this promotion has stand-alone value. Our technical suggestions are presented as actionable by any development firm or in-house developer. If you would like a proposal from Beezwax for these improvements, we would be happy to follow up on this.
To get things going, please select which area(s) of usability you want our analysis to focus on:
(*If you select few, we will investigate those deeply. If you select many, we will provide a broader analysis, on as many areas as we can.)
User Interface Design
Thoughtful software is the cornerstone of computing: the beginning, not the end. Great software demands approachable, rewarding interfaces. Without them, people resist using computers; This is a design failure, not a human one.
Beezwax prizes visual clarity, but interface design isn’t purely aesthetic. It’s about grasping the interplay between people and the information they generate and consume. It’s about intuiting and promoting real users’ needs. Ultimately, it’s about improving the relationship between people and work.
Software ages quickly. Rethinking your system may be daunting, but procrastinating can be just as costly. Leverage your existing solution with innovations, including a new definition of how you work today.
Mapped out over months (or years) in phases, priorities can line up with budget. We approach redesigns incrementally: improvement with integrity, and future flexibility, comes step-by-step.
We often provide a few hours of support in how to use your FileMaker system more effectively, before you decide how many more hours to spend in building something new. This support work can include helping our clients make fuller use of the built-in FileMaker tools, or even making minor adjustments to the structure, interface, and scripting.
Migrating FileMaker solutions to Web Technologies
If you need to reach more concurrent users, we can migrate the established structure and functionality of your FileMaker system into a Web Application.
Migrate from Excel
Many systems we've built started as Excel files, Numbers documents or Google sheets. Smart individuals can quickly organize their own data in spreadsheets, but are challenged to securely share their work with team members, across an organization.
We convert data into an ecosystem of products and features, delivering the software experiences you appreciate from first-class business applications: better interface, workflow, security, mobility, notifications, reporting, data visualization, integration document management, and more.
Amazon offers by far best-in-industry tools for integrating virtually anything with Alexa devices. Alexa is particularly powerful in its ability to allow creation of a wide range of custom voice commands, and combine these with “lambda functions”, which can be written in virtually any modern language, including Swift. Because of the combination of Amazon’s market prowess and the beauty/power of this technology, this is a topic of particular interest to Mike. Also, the exceptional low cost of Alexa devices increases the appeal in many cases (obviously a no go at Apple, but likely quite appealing elsewhere).
We envision an office with Alexa devices and a Beezwax FileMaker solution. Users speak commands (“Alexa, tell FileMaker to print a summary report”, “Alexa, tell FileMaker to show me our top 10 donors”, “Alexa, tell FileMaker to send a list of hot spots to my iPhone”, “Alexa, tell FileMaker to show me Bob Jones’ info on my TV”, “Alexa, tell FileMaker to create a contact record for Jane Appleseed”). An Alexa device “hears” it, a tailored Swift lambda function “understands” and then relays this (with or without Iron Horse’s assistance) to the desired FileMaker server/solution, and the result is delivered via the FileMaker solution.
One More Thing… Imagine this as a FileMaker product and demoing it at DevCon! “Alexa, tell Beezwax add Mark Johnson to our contacts list”. “Great! What’s his phone?” “yada” “OK, what’s his email?”… That’d knock a lotta socks off, and drive tons of traffic to our booth!
Stores, sites, shopping carts, payments, and integration with back-end systems or web services. We build or set up. You sell.
